Sarah “Sally” E. J. Petery, 91
Sarah “Sally” Elizabeth Jane (Bleecher) Petery, 91, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Hospice of Lancaster County. She was born in December 4, 1917, in Strasburg Township. She was a daughter of the late John Elmer and Ella Yost (Arment) Bleecher. She was married to the late Henry W. Petery.
Mrs. Petery was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster for over fifty years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 767, in Lancaster, for over forty years where she served as Senior Regent. Mrs. Petery worked for the former Hubley Toys for thirty-six years.
Mrs. Petery is survived by two daughters: Doris L., wife of Steuart H. Grimm of Lancaster, and Mary V., wife of Bernard F. Corrigan of Manheim; two daughters -in- law: Doris Bleecher of Lancaster, and Alice Petery Collier of York; one sister, Dorothy S., wife of David P. Hess; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; seventeen great, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Petery was preceded in death by two sons: Richard S. Bleecher, and Edward H. Petery; and three brothers: John E. Bleecher, Franklin Bleecher, and Robert F. Bleecher.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 10:00AM from the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home Inc. 414 East King St. Lancaster, PA 17602 with Vicar Johanna Andritz and Rev. Charles Lisse officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Burial Park. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM with services conducted by the Women of the Moose starting at 7:45 PM. There will also be a viewing on Friday morning from 9-10AM.
