Peter P. Smelter, Jr., 60

Peter P. Smelter, Jr., 60 of Marienville, PA, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Snyder Memorial Health Care after a lengthy illness. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Peter P. and Irene E. (Butkiewicz) Smelter.
Peter was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church.
Peter was a graduate of Penn State University at the Mont Alto campus where he received an Associate degree in Forestry. He worked as a forester and as a surveyor. He enjoyed anything that had to do with the outdoors and loved turkey and deer hunting, trout fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his brother, Stephen Smelter, and wife, Barbara of Halifax, PA. He is also survived by a niece, Erika Haak, and two nephews, Daniel Smelter, and John Smelter, and also two great nieces and two great nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St, Lancaster, PA 17602 with interment to follow in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends will be received from 9:30-10:30AM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St, Lancaster, PA 17602. In lieu of flowers contributions in Peter’s memory may be made to the Huntington’s disease Society, 502 West Germantown Pike #405, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.

Hi Stephen. I am so sorry to hear about your brother Peter. I resently tried to find you both when I discovered he had passed. I was so upset that I hadn’t tried to find you both sooner.
