Mary Ann Folmer, 74

February 23, 2015

Mary Ann Folmer, 74, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015, at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown with her daughter, Angie by her side and holding her hand. She suffered from dementia and died from complications of this disease.
Mary Ann was born October 10, 1940, in Paradise, PA and was a daughter of the late John and Sarah (Hickernell) Felker.
Mary Ann previously resided in Lebanon, PA and Harrisburg, PA. She worked for the State of Pennsylvania’s Department of Revenue and then Motor Fuel, retiring in 1996 after becoming legally blind with Macular Degeneration. She enjoyed driving and reading prior to the loss of her eyesight. She also enjoyed cooking and shopping and was an avid walker in her later years. She was the loving mother of two children and took great pride in being a Mom.
Surviving are her two children, Michael K. Folmer of Tulsa, OK and Angela L. (Scott) Leed of Lancaster, PA; her sisters Elaine (Donald) Perkins of Myerstown, PA and Karen Reager of Lebanon, PA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Kenneth Felker.
Mary Ann converted to the Catholic faith following the birth of her son and sincerely loved this decision. She attended Mass faithfully until her diagnosis of dementia but always maintained her love and devotion to the Catholic faith. She had been a member of the former St. Gertrude’s Church in Lebanon where she did volunteer work in her younger years and most recently was a member of the Cathedral Parish of Saint Patrick when she resided in Harrisburg. Mary Ann was a hard worker and a devoted friend and mother. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for her kindness and laughter and her strong spirit for life.
Friends will be received on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 9-10AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10AM, the Rev. Leo M. Goodman III as Celebrant. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Macula Vision Research Foundation, One Tower Bridge, 100 Front St., Suite 300, West Conshohocken, PA 19428-2894 or the Alzheimers Association Greater PA Chapter, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110 in Mary Ann’s memory.

To the family of Mary Ann Folmer,
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. It is no sadness and pain that you feel when losing a loved one in death. During this time this is where family and friends love and comfort means so much.. I know when losing someone in death it reminds me of the promise that is found in John 5:28,29 which gives some comfort now and hope for the future. Once again, I am sorry for your loss and please accept my sincere condolences.
