Jo-Lynn “Cissy” Williams

July 17, 2016

Jo-Lynn Williams, “Cissy”, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. She was born in Lancaster to Jo-Ann (Clark) Williams and the late Charles E. “Pidge” Williams, Sr.

She graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School and worked many years as a C.N.A. at Conestoga View. Cissy and her sister Jennifer made gorgeous jewelry as a hobby, specifically bracelets and earrings. The pieces were incredibly unique, and they built a nice following, known as JEN “N” CIS. They had set up stands at a few church fairs and did quite well!! They would also make specialty pieces if asked. Cissy was an avid reader, specifically of mystery novels. James Patterson was one of her many favorites.

She loved watching the Cooking Channel. Two of her most special chefs were, the Barefoot Contessa and Giada de Laurentiis. She watched them both loyally. Obviously another of Cissys hobbies was cooking. She loved and excelled at it. Every Monday, the “Monday Mix”, she and two of her best friends, Judy and Joe, would invite friends over. Everyone was to bring a homemade dish. Sampling everyone’s dishes was one of the highlights of her week. Everyone waited in anticipation for her dishes!! They were usually devoured within the hour after being served! Leaving everyone asking, “Can I have the recipe”? She would smile that beautiful smile and laugh! Sometimes she obliged, sometimes, smile, oh well!! So, Judy and Joe, please keep that tradition, exactly that, a tradition. She always had a great time, preparing and attending! She will always be there in spirit, never forget that.

Cissy is survived by her mother, Jo-Anna Williams; her siblings, Charmaine, Jennifer and Charles Jr. “Ducky” (Bena); and her nieces and nephews, Christian, Savannah, Dorian, Kierstan, Tiesha, Teasia, Monique, Kearia, “Tigger” (Tyrone), Deshawn and Aaliyah. You all should know this, you were loved. Aunt Cissy will always be watching over you. Dorian, Kierstan, your Aunt Cissy was extremely proud of your accomplishments. Kierstan, attending and graduating college, Temple, with a Bachelor of Arts. Dorian, attending and completing Champs Barber School. We also have to include her two, four legged offspring, Pebbles and Onyx. Those cats ruled the house. She is predeceased by her father, Charles Edward Williams, “Pidge”. Cissy, our Cissy, leaves behind a legacy of friends and family. Remember her with a smile, great stories, a prayer, a song, but, remember, she is happy and at peace, and partying with Prince!

Cissy’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her nurses, Melissa, Shelly and Diane. Your thoughtfulness will not go unappreciated.

A Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 East King St., Lancaster, PA 17602. Interment will be private. Contributions may be made to the Lancaster County SPCA, 848 S. Prince St, Lancaster, PA 17603 or to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.

Condolences to the Family

Jen, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your sister.  My sisters are my best friends, so I can only imagine the depth of your loss.  You created a wonderful obituary for her – I can truly hear the laughter in the room when you all were gathered!!  You are frequently in my thoughts.  I don’t know if you still live on Prospect St, but I think of you every time I drive by that house!  I hope our paths cross again!
Fondly,
Brenda Mearkle Troop

Sadden to learn of Cissy’s passing. She was a dear friend to my sister Bethanne Jones who went home to be with the Lord 5 years ago. To Charmaine I know the pain of losing a sister but I have experienced The Lord’s comfort during a season of loss. Know that I am praying for you and your family.

My sister.  There isn’t enough time or space in the world to tell you how much I will miss you or how much I love you.  I’ve never met a spirit like you and probably never will.  From writing on the walls in the house on Marshall Street to just sitting on the porch at Mom’s on Fremont, my memories will never fade.  I love you and am so sad you had to go. But I know you are no longer in pain and Dad missed you and Prince has a front row seat waiting for you.  Say hello to Heaven.  I love you. I love you. I love you.

This sad news is quite a shock. I have not seen Jo Lynn in many years, but I was just thinking about her this past weekend, wondering if she’d be at our Lancaster Catholic High 40th reunion in September. Oh my… Remembering how much we used to laugh back in high school! My deepest condolences to her family and friends. Godspeed.
