J. Orlando Rivera, 27
J. Orlando Rivera, 27, of Philadelphia, PA, formerly of Lancaster, died Wednesday, November 1, 2006 in Philadelphia.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Jose M. Rivera of Lancaster and Evelyn Torres of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, formerly of Lancaster.
A 1997 graduate of Manheim Township High School, he was a drum major for the marching band, played saxophone in the jazz band and was very active in the music department. He was selected and participated in the Music Abroad program. Orlando was also active in the Drama Department and performed in school musicals. He was an Honor Student and was in the National Honor Society. He attended New York University, in the honors program, majoring in Psychology. Orlando was a tutor in the Philadelphia School District.
He was of the Catholic faith and was a former member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed history and attending and listening to Broadway musicals.
In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by a brother, Alejandro M. Rivera of Lancaster; maternal grandparents, Monserrate Torres and Dominga Justiniano of Mayaguez, PR; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to the family on Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. from the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. A Christian Prayer Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday morning at 11:00 a. m. at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church. Friends may pay their respects to the family at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster, PA. Please omit flowers.
