Emma I. Sullivan
Emma I. Sullivan, 100, died at St. Anne’s Retirement Community in Columbia on Monday, December 28, 2009. She was lovingly cared for by the staff of St. Anne’s for seven years. She was the wife of the late Frederick F. Sullivan who died in 1988. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Henry F. Myers, MD and Emma L. Smith Myers.
She was a graduate of Steven’s High School and Lancaster Business College, both formerly in Lancaster. Emma first worked as stenographer in the Credit Department of Armstrong Cork Company and then as a secretary to Sherman L. Hill at the Boys Club of Lancaster. She last worked as a clerk in the PA Inheritance Tax Office, retiring in 1978.
Emma was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the P.C.B.L.
Surviving Emma are her daughter, Kathleen, wife of James F. Cosgrove, Lancaster; son, Fred F., husband of Alice Sullivan, Shrewsbury; four grandchildren, James J. Cosgrove, Lancaster, Patricia, wife of Timothy Watson, Leola, Christine, wife of Joseph Edgell, Leola and Thomas Sullivan, Shrewsbury; three great grandchildren; Erica and Timothy Watson and Angela Edgell; and her sister Loretta, wife of Frank J. Glick, Lancaster.
Her four brothers, Albert Anthony, James Albert, Henry and C. Paul Myers preceded Emma in death.
A private Mass of Christian Burial, with interment in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, will take place at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers.
