David Bruce Wood, 73

David Bruce Wood, 73, of Lancaster, entered peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Saturday, April 6, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Ruth A. Wood with whom he would have celebrated his 47th wedding anniversary on May 14, 2013. He was born in East Orange, NJ, son of the late Edgar C. Wood and the late Helen Schmidt Wood. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served his country as a submariner from 1959 to 1963. He graduated from St. Joseph University in 1973. He was a member of Lancaster Alliance Church.
He was the devoted father to two sons: David P., husband of Denise Woodside, of Seattle, WA and Kevin J., husband of Angela Garner Wood, of Lancaster; one daughter, Susan E., wife of David Roscoe, of Brandon, FL; and grandfather of one grandchild, Mikeala Wood. He is also survived by his stepmother, Rosemary Wood, of Indiana, PA.
A Memorial Service honoring Bruce’s life will be held at Lancaster Alliance Church, 210 Pitney Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 4PM. Family and friends will be received from 3-4PM at the church on Sunday. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA on Friday, April 12, 2013 with departure from the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike at 1:30PM. I worked with Bruce for a few years at Stauffers Garden Center. He and I worked Tuesday nights when the store wasn’t busy, and I always looked forward to"Tuesdays with Bruce." He and I would have great conversation and even from those few encounters I knew he was a great fellow and I am sad at his death. You are in my prayers.
