Clayton R. Gertler, 82
Clayton R. Gertler, 82, died at his home in Paradise on Saturday, April 10, 2010. His wife of 52 years Laura P. Young Gertler died in 2005. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Henry and Blanche Miller Gertler.
Clayton served in the US Army during World War II. He worked for 33 years in the maintenance Department of Penn Boiler, which became Burnham Corp. He was a member of Calvary Monument Bible Church in Paradise, AARP and Tanawa American Legion Post #409 in Paradise.
Surviving are his daughter June M. Becker of Paradise, son Clarence Franklin Duffy, Jr., husband of Cheryl of Smoketown, 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and his sister Betty Alleman of Holtwood. His brothers, Wayne and Robert Gertler, and sister, Louise M. Gertler Walsh, preceded Clayton in death.
A Viewing will take place on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 1-2 PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA, followed by the Funeral at 2 PM, with The Rev. Robert M. Reid and Visitation Associate George Urban, Jr. officiating. Interment in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. He will be greatly missed, But he is where he wanted be. He was a good person and loved by many. He was a wonderful Father-in-law for many years, and did good for everybody that knew him. I remember him loving my choc cakes and always smiling and joking. will be thinking of all his family in this time of lost.
