Carl Polansky, 69

Carl Polansky, 69, of Landisville, PA, went home to be with Christ on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 after a long fight with cancer.  Raised in Coaldale, PA, he was the son to the late Stephen and Eva (Shears) Polansky.  Carl was the loving husband of Jean E. (Duffy) Polansky.  They were blessed with nearly 40 years of marriage.

Carl served in the US Navy.  He worked at RCA for 20 years as an Engineer and National Sales Manager.  He was an avid golfer and greatly appreciated his golfing partners (Bud, Rick & Bob).   He was a Penn State, Eagles and Phillies fan.  He enjoyed reading, dancing, playing Blitz, making home improvements and his corvette.  Carl thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and going on family vacations, especially the Caribbean and Alaska.  He loved to be warm and was right at home on a beach.  Carl was well known for his sense of humor, even despite severe hardships.

Carl was a dedicated member of Christ the Saviour Church in Harrisburg.  He served on Parish Council and loved being part of the baking projects.  He deeply cherished Father Stephen, the pastor, and the many fantastic people there.

Special thanks to Carl’s wonderful friends: Joe D, Burnell, Walter R, Marla, the Morrisons, the Gourmet group and the entire St. Leo family.

The family gives thanks and praise to God for the many blessings He has given them through loving people and their prayers.

The family thanks Hospice of Lancaster County for taking excellent care of Carl and them.  They are especially thankful to God for Barb, Charlie, Linda, Mandy and many others with Hospice.  The family also thanks the amazing doctors and nurses that have taken care of Carl over the past several years, especially Dr. Cotter.

Surviving in addition to his wife, a daughter: Melissa Groff, wife of Doug, of Elizabethtown, PA; a son: Steven Polansky of Alexandria, VA; and a sister: Kitty Brill, wife of Joe, of Lake in the Clouds, PA.  Carl is preceded in death by a sister, Ilene Polansky-King.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Carl’s life with them on Sunday (in Lititz) and on Monday (in Harrisburg).  A viewing will be from 2-4 PM on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 followed by a Memorial Celebration at 4 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church, 5501 Old Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17109 with Rev. Stephen Vernak officiating.  A viewing will be from 9-10 AM at the church.  Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church or Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604 or www.hospiceoflancaster.org .  To send the family online condolences, please visit SnyderFuneralHome.com. Although he will be missed and I am sure sorrow is in your hearts, may God send you peace as you know that Carl is now with the Lord and in all of Heaven’s glory and excellence.  Carl now knows all the answers to every question he has ever wondered and truly knows how much he was and IS loved.

To Carl’s Family- I never met you, but I did have the opportunity to work with Carl when he volunteered with the Volunteer Income Tax Program as a tax preparer at Rep. Creighton’s office in Manheim. I am the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program field coordinator— and helped place and support Carl in that position.

Carl’s clients spoke highly of him as did the staffers at the representative’s office. I know he will be missed this tax season when his clients, who tend to return each year, come for their appointments.

I appreciated Carl’s dedication and skills, but didn’t realize he had cancer until this fall when he told me he would not be able to return as a volunteer. I told him then that I would miss him we would all miss him. Thank you for sharing him with us the past three years or so. He will indeed be missed.

Dear Jean,

Please accept our deepest sympathy at this time. We so enjoyed working with you and Carl as we put things together for our trips to SD. You’ve been in our prayers constantly, and we’ll continue to ask God’s comfort and peace for you in this difficult time.

With love and affection,

Dear Mrs. Polansky
