Betty J. Forwood, 91

Betty J. Forwood, of Lancaster, died peacefully on her 91st birthday, February 22, 2016. She was the only child of the late Augustus and Barbara (Bryan) Steiner. She graduated from Elizabethtown High School where she was a cheerleader.
Betty married the love of her life, the late Raymond H. Forwood, Jr., in 1945. They shared many happy years raising their children on North Plum Street in Lancaster.
She was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lancaster.
Betty worked as an assistant buyer in the children’s department at Garvin’s Department Store. She late worked in the records room at St. Joseph’s Hospital and also served as staff secretary.
Betty was an enthusiastic participant in life. She loved what she had and had what she loved. When she retired, every day was a day to explore the world, attend concerts, fairs, auctions, and festivals. In her later years, Betty was the companion of the late Walter Dietrich. They enjoyed many activities at Lancaster senior centers, including line dancing, cards swimming, and bingo. Betty loved the beach, classical music, sewing, travel, reading, and her cats.
Betty was a devoted and caring wife and mother. She was always willing to be of help and support whenever called upon by her family, friends, and co-workers.
She is survived by her three children: Karen Good, wife of Daniel, of Millersville; Hanna Brooks, wife of Charles, of Lancaster; and Jon Timothy Forwood, husband of Martha, of Lancaster. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Benjamin Good, of Pittsburgh; Laura Good , wife of Bradford Granger; Emily Good, wife of Steven Cawley; and Raymond Good, husband of Mary, all of Lancaster. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren: Charlie and Anna Granger; Calvin, Elliot, and Teddy Cawley; and Molly and Evan Good.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Mennonite Home for the wonderful care and love they gave to her. Many of the caregivers enriched her days with smiles and stimulation.
Burial will be private at Mount Tunnel Cemetery in Elizabethtown. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mennonite Home, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
