Woodrow Wilson, 78

Woodrow Wilson, 78, of Leola, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital on Thursday, December 23 2021. He was the loving husband of Ellen Mariah (Weldon) Wilson. Together they shared 56 years of marriage.

Born on January 29, 1943 in Eastover, SC, Woodrow was the son of the late Willie and Ruby (Miller) Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Willie Wilson, Jr. and Fred Alonzo Wilson.

Woodrow was a member of Bright Side Baptist Church. He loved playing guitar, as well singing Gospel Music and participated in a Men’s Choir. He was a member of Boy Scouts of America and loved working with his hands- especially carpentry. He enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, and bike riding. Most of all, Woodrow is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his wife, Woodrow is survived by his children, Darryl Michael Wilson (husband of Rosa Wilson), and Valerie Renee Wilson Harling (wife of Leon Harling); 7 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; his sisters Cora Branch (wife of Herbert Branch), Evelyn McBeth (wife of Jeff McBeth); brother Jimmy Wilson (husband of Sandra); sisters-in-law Ruth A. Weldon and Geneva Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Service will be held at Bright Side Baptist Church at 515 Hershey Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
