William Watkin Jones III, D.O.
William Watkin Jones III, D.O. passed away peacefully on May 30, 2007 at age 74, surrounded by loved ones. Bill was born on July 2, 1932 (along with a twin brother) in Merchantville, NJ to William Watkin Jones, Jr. and Eva Jones. In 1950, he graduated from Merchantville High School where he also played football. He attended Rutgers University, joined Zeta Psi fraternity, earned his Bachelors degree at Gettysburg College, and then graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
In 1955, he married Patricia Kerrigan; they recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary with a wonderful trip to China. In 1960, Bill opened his Family and Geriatric medical practice in Toms River, NJ where he practiced for 40 years. He also served as the Medical Director of Bayview Convalescent Home in Berkeley, NJ and as a jail physician of Ocean County. He was on the staffs of Paul Kimbell and Community Memorial Hospitals. Bill was a member of the Merchantville Masonic Lodge #119, and was Past President of the Clemson Downs POA and served on the Downs CARC Board in Clemson, SC.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Kerrigan Jones, two children, Dr. William Watkin Jones IV and Bonnie Jones Snyder, and two very beloved granddaughters, Maeve Kerrigan and Jacqueline Ayn Snyder.
Bill was an avid reader and a wonderful listener with many interests including chess, computers, swimming, fishing, woodworking, and boating in the Pattie K and spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored. In 1997, Bill undertook an intrepid boat trip along the Intracoastal Waterway which took him from Quebec to the Chesapeake. A friendly and kind man, Bill will always be loved and remembered fondly by those lucky enough to have known him.
A Memorial Service is planned for June 16th at NOON at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA.
