William S. Sanchez, 68

December 29, 1951 - March 19, 2020

William S. Sanchez, 68, of Lancaster, passed away late Thursday, March 19, 2020, at ManorCare – Lancaster, where he had been a rehabilitation patient for the past month. Born in Cidra, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Ernesto Santiago and Santa Sanchez. For the past 40 years, William was the loving companion of Leila Nunez.
Over the years, William worked as a general laborer for Buck Run Iron Works, Timal Automotive and Star Paper Tube, but his greatest joy was working on cars and as an auto detailer. He had a passion for Super Sport cars, especially his own 1969 Chevelle SS. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Lancaster.
In addition to Leila, William is survived by his daughters: Marylou Sanchez and Diana Sanchez and her fiancée Pablo Beltran; his step-children: Maribel Castro and her husband Pedro, Marilyn Brooks and her husband George, Evelyn Wilson and her husband Gary, Mildred Rivera, and Pablo Rivera, Jr. and his wife Carmen; and his grandchildren: Carmelo Rivera, Angel Rivera, Isiah Perez and Desarae Perez. Also surviving are his sisters, Maria Angela Alvarado, Anibal Miguel Santiago, and Carmen Rosa Santiago; brothers Ramon Luis Santiago and Jose Ernest Sanchez; and a host of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as brothers Emilio Santiago, Ismeal Santiago, Hector Sanchez and Luis Angel Santiago.
Due to recent health concerns and restrictions, services will be private at the convenience of the family. William’s final resting place will be at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org
