William Pitt Shearman, Jr., 94

July 16, 1930 - May 20, 2025

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, William Pitt Shearman, Jr., who passed away on May 20th at the age of 94.

Bill was born on July 16, 1930, in Manhattan, NY to William and Henrietta Shearman. He joined the Marine Corp and proudly served his country from 1/23/51 to 1/13/54 during the Korean War and later had a successful career as a business owner. He was a loving husband for nearly 70 years to his beloved wife, Dolores and a devoted father to 4 children: Sharon, Joyce, Richard, and Beth. He was a devout Catholic and his faith was extremely important to him. He was a pillar of strength and support for his family. He cherished family gatherings and his presence at holidays and celebrations brought warmth and joy to those around him. He was known for his humor, generosity and zest for life. His legacy will live on through generations who will remember his kindness and love.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Holup Shearman; his children, Sharon and husband Bob of Charlestown, WV; Joyce Reynolds and husband Gary of Tulsa, OK; Richard Shearman and wife Linda of Schnecksville, PA; and Beth Darling and husband Randy of Rochester, NY.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at 1PM at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA, Fr. Lawrence Sherdel as Celebrant. A viewing will be held at the church just prior to the service at 12 PM. There will be a graveside service following the funeral at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
