Walter L. Wasylenko, 79

Walter L. Wasylenko, 79, of Lancaster, formerly of Reading, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Home. Born in Zolochiv, Ukraine, Walter was a son of the late Mykola and Katyryna (Bilowus) Wasylenko.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Diane M. (Sulzbach), of Lancaster.
Walter worked for 30 years as a Draftsman and Engineer for GNB Industrial Batteries. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He cherished his family, and everything he did revolved around them. He enjoyed Ukrainian history, maps, pierogis, kielbasa, and vodka.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Walter A. (Jamie), Patrick N. (Kerri), and Joseph M. (Courtney); five grandchildren, Molly, Lucy, Stephen, Nickalus, and Lars; and a daughter-in-law, April Wasylenko. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen; two brothers, Roman and Eugene; and a sister, Mary.
Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 11AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 550 Hurst St., Bridgeport, PA 19405. A viewing will be held at the church from 10-11AM. Interment will follow at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Upper Merion Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Walter’s memory may be made to Zerbe Sisters Nursing Home, 2499 Zerbe Rd, Narvon, PA 17555, or the Ukraine Refugee Crisis, 1775 K St. NW suite 580, Washington, DC, 20006.
