Walter Blair Clawson, Jr., 69

December 14, 2025

Walter Blair “Walt” Clawson, Jr., 69, of Conestoga, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025. Born in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late Walter Sr. and Mary Belle (Westfall) Clawson.

Walt was an auto mechanic for many years and spent much of his time working on classic cars, collecting cars, and teaching others how to work on them. He was restoring a 1969 Chevy C-10 and collected Jeep Willys. In his earlier years, Walt was able to travel all over the US with his job, reaching 48 states. He was known for his quick wit and candid humor and could tell the best stories. Walt was adventurous and free-spirited, enjoyed rock climbing and hiking, and had a true soft spot for his dogs Jack and Buck.

Walt is survived by 5 children: Ashley Westphal, Sondra Thomas (Anthony), Justin Clawson, Josh Clawson, and Eden Corsette (Charles); 3 sisters: Martha Roe, Mary Jane Rife (Randy), and Audrey Clawson; as well as 13 beloved grandchildren: Cameron, Kaitlyn, Travis, Maya, Violet, Zoe, Harpor, Nora, Isabella, Westen, Izabella, Emma, and Janelle. He was predeceased by 3 siblings: Charles, Gene, and Katherine Clawson.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.

I’ve known Walt since the mid 1970’s. Over the years I’d occasionally run into him at local taverns. We always called each other “brother in law “. He was a very funny guy and always made me laugh. RIP Walt.
