Vaughn “Sully” Sullenberger, 78

Vaughn “Sully” Sullenberger, 78, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on May 17, 2017 surrounded by his family at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Bartville, PA, he was the son to the late Albert & Elizabeth (Rintz) Sullenberger. Sully was the loving husband of Carol A. (Ulrich) Sullenberger.
He was a mason for Lancaster Masonry with 55 years of service. Sully was an avid hunter & fisherman in the Bartville and Kirkwood areas. He was also a member of the Strasburg Sportsman’s Association.
In addition to his wife, Carol, Sully is survived by two children: Catherine L. Sullenberger Troutman, wife of Craig, of Lititz and Vaughn Sullenberger, Jr., husband of Christine, of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren: Veronica N. (Shultz) Roma, wife of Nick, Catie A. Troutman and Madison K. Sullenberger; three great-grandchildren; six siblings: Donald Sullenberger, husband of Anna, James Sullenberger, Richard Sullenberger, Arlene Sullenberger, Margaret Rhoads, wife of Lester, and Dale Sullenberger, husband of Mary Ann; and many nieces & nephews.
Sully was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen Sullenberger in 1989; and 7 siblings.
A viewing will be from 10am-12pm on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A Funeral Service will begin at 12pm following the viewing. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers. Contributions may be made in Vaughn’s memory to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.

Vaughn was one of the very best brother-in-law’s that I have had the privilege to have in my life he was always there when I needed him he was always helpful and friendly.
He was one of the most solid guys I’ve ever known God Rest his soul
He also was a very good uncle to my children he and Carol were always helping them my very deepest condolences to you Carol, Kathy and little Vaughn as well as the rest of the family
