Uriah L. “Lou” Davis, 84
Uriah L. Davis "Lou", 84, of Lancaster, passed away, Friday, May 15, 2009 at Hospice of Lancaster Essa Flory Center. Born, April 9, 1925 in Shenandoah, Pa., he was the son of the late Ruth Davis Didyoung. Lou was the husband of Catherine (Marchalonis) Davis.
Lou lived in St. Nicholas, Pa., before moving to Lancaster. He graduated from Mahanoy Twp. High School in 1942. Lou then joined the Navy and served in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy and in both the European and Pacific Theater Campaigns. After his time of service, he was employed by RCA/GE for 35 years before his retirement in 1987. Lou was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, American Legion Post 34, St. Anne-Neumann Seniors, Guys and Dolls, and the Knights of Columbus. Lou enjoyed playing tennis and being with people…"He never met a stranger, only a friend".
Surviving in addition to his wife Catherine is a daughter; Lu Ann C. Davis-Jindela wife of Joseph of Lancaster. A son; Mark J. Davis husband of Mary Gene of San Diego, CA., a granddaughter, Madeline J. Davis and brother, Thomas H. Davis, husband of Lucille.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 501 E. Orange St. Lancaster, Pa. 17602 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Mitzel as Celebrant. Family and Friends will be received Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz Pa. 17543 from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Ft.
