Timothy M. Landis, 53

June 27, 2021

Timothy M. Landis of East Petersburg passed away unexpectedly at age 53 on June 27, 2021 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida. He was the son of Gordon S. and Sarah “Sally” Landis, the beloved husband of 33 years to Beth Anne (Fry) Landis, and the father to Meagan Landis.

Tim was a man of God and was a loving husband, father, son and son-in-law. He is survived by his parents Gordon and Sally Landis, his wife Beth, his daughter Meagan, and by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his brother Jeffrey Landis, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Tim had a great sense of humor and never failed to make you laugh, but more than anything he was a family man and loved spending time with his “two girls.” He was a Hempfield High School and a Mount Joy Vo-Tech graduate. Before becoming diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) in 1994, he worked as a printer for Acorn Press and was an avid golfer and loved to ski. In 2005, he obtained a Bible Certificate from Lancaster Bible College, which helped pave the way for his volunteer work with various ministries which included Handi* Vangelism Ministries International, Align Life Ministries, Walk to Emmaus and Stephen Ministries. He was actively involved at Calvary Church in the Disciplemakers ABF, Men’s Ministry and served as a dishwasher for Calvary’s Student Ministries Winter Retreats. Tim also served on a short-term missions trip to Kentucky and traveled to Budapest, Hungry to distribute audio Bibles with the Bartimeus Foundation and In Touch Ministries. In addition to sharing his faith, Tim was also passionate about teaching other visually impaired individuals how to use assistive technology.

The viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 14 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, from 5-7 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, July 15 at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601 at 3 PM with visitation beginning at 1:30 PM. The service will also be livestreamed at https://www.calvarychurch.org/more/event-live-stream/.The interment will be help privately at the family’s discretion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tim’s name to Handi* Vangelism Ministries International (HVMI) via www.hvmi.org/onlingiving or sent to HVMI’s office at PO Box 122, Akron, PA 17501-0122.

Condolences to the Family

To the Landis Family,

I just learned of Tim’s passing today and I am sadden for his family’s loss.  I knew Tim from his working with and helping people who are blind or have low vision use computers, iPhones and other technologies to access the printed word. Tim was so important in teaching us about technologies that ultimately many of us became employed and lived independent lives in Central Pennsylvania.  I know when I read my Braille Bible or access Biblical resources on my iPhone I will rejoice in the Lord’s calling Tim home to be with our savior.

Tim and I met as a  result of his knowledge and ability to teach adaptive computer technology and my seemingly endless challenges to him in keeping me current in the field. Anyone who knew Tim quickly learned that he was a man of faith, a man of  many words and  a man who loved his family and gave freely of time, support and encouragement to others. I was so blessed and fortunate to have had Tim as my  instructor and one who grew to be a valued friend. I will miss him, too.

Sending heartfelt condolences, hugs and Prayers to his parents and his “girls,” Beth and Meagan,

Linda Morrow

Hello; my name is Jim Augeri, and none of you will know me by name. I live in New Mexico, and have been working with Larry Fry on a series of articles for the TSNA newsletter he publishes on line monthly. During this process I got caught up in the story of Tim’s untimely passing. I am so sorry for your family’s loss, and can’t imagine what you all must be going through. Losing a husband, father, and loved one at the way too young age of 53 is beyond my understanding. May he rest in peace, and may your family eventually find the answers you so desperately need.

I was so happy to call Tim my friend! He taught me   JAWS and the computer. After my training he told me if I need any thing or I need computer help to call him. I lived in Lebanon, and he would come there to teach me. We remained friends. He did have a wonderful sense of humor. He also could be serious. He loved Jesus, his family, and  friends. He loved to talk. During my last conversation with him    he was struggling to talk and breathe. I told him to stop talking and let me talk. That was the only time he was quiet.    He prayed for me over the phone when I was going through a rough time. I could feel the warmth of the Holy Spirit through the phone. I will miss him! Heaven recieved another angel! His family and friends are in my prayers. The memorial service was wonderful! The Holy Spirit was there.

Beth, Meagan, Gordon and Sally, Both Matt and I want to express our condolences to each of you. Please know we are committed to praying you through this difficult time. His service was beautiful! Meagan, your eulogy of your dad was fantastic. We, too, have fond memories of Tim. Matt was always impressed by his ability to memorize his Walk to Emmaus talk… unbelievable! I enjoyed great conversations with Tim since we both love to talk! Most importantly, though, both Matt and I will be forever grateful for your sponsorship of us for the Walk to Emmaus. This even has influenced our spiritual growth significantly and we are thankful that the Lord led you to sponsor us. We are praying for all of you to have comfort and peace. With much love, Fran and Matt Miller

This must be a difficult time for the family. I have followed the life of Tim through you guys since we lost Jeff. You know the pain of losing children is indeed great, but our Father in Heaven understands and comfort you as you grieve and will continue to help you complete your journeys here on earth. Remember that we are spiritual folk living in this temporary human life. Both your boys are happy to be with the Lord and we Christians know we will be reunited with them when our time in this earth life is finished. God bless  and keep you and your family and friends in His Hands.

Hello Meagan, we are so, so sorry to hear of your loss.  We remember talking to your dad about the possibility of you continuing on as a missionary with us in the Philippines.  His struggles with that were because he loved you so much and wanted you close by, but he struggled through successfully to acceptance as he wanted God’s will for both you and them.  May you and your family experience God’s peace at this difficult time.

Meagan,
You are correct, He can see once again! The angels are celebrating that your dad finished the race well. He was truly a man of God. I only met him once but the fruit he produced was wonderful. My prayers continue to be with you and your family as you mourn the loss of an exceptional servant of the Lord.

There are no words that could ever bring the comfort needed during this time of loss as you look to the only One who knows the why, the how and the what will be. For the short time I’ve known you and your family, you have had a positive impact on my life. Tim truly validated and emulated the fact that all things are possible in Christ who strengthens us. May God continue to Bless you now and alway.

Dear Sally and Gordon, I was shocked to read Tim’s home going in the paper tonight. I immediately sent a text to our daughter, Jill, and she too was shocked. You were such a positive influence in her life as I am sure you were Tim’s. Our love and prayers go out to you, his wife and daughter and may you feel His strength at this very difficult time. Dear Sally, Gordon, Beth and Megan, we were heartbroken to hear of Tim’s passing. On our journey here on earth, Tim was one of the great people who crossed our parth. He was always kind, gentle, and an inspiration to everyone who knew him. He could also be pretty funny. Unfortunately we will be out of town at the time of Tim’s visitation so we won’t be able to share our condolences with you at that time, but be assured that our hearts and prayers will be with you. Although things seem very dark right now we can only strive to live our lives from here on as Tim would have wanted us to. We will do this to honor his memory.
Love, Doris and Ken

To the wife (Beth) and parents (Gordon and Sally) of Tim Landis.  I would like to extend my deepest condolences to all of you in the passing of Tim.  I was his (and his parents) optician for many years and have very pleasant memories of your entire family. I felt our relationship was beyond simply me being your optician, that we bonded over our love for God and a friendship beyond just saying hi and goodbye when you came into the office.  Blessings to you as you mourn the passing of this loving man.

Gordon and Sally and family,

Was so sad to read about Tim.  I was attending Calvary when he had his scare many years ago.  It looks like he grew up to be an extraordinary young man that I am sure you were quite proud of.  I hurt for you and his wife and daughter.  Can’t imagine the pain you are all feeling.  May God comfort you through this sad time.

My heart breaks by the loss of my very dear friend Tim. I always enjoyed our conversations and I always learned something new from Tim. His knowledge of the Bible, that he quoted chapter and verse, always inspired me to learn more. His love for his girls was a popular topic of discussion. They were, without a doubt, his world. His parents did a wonderful job in raising him to live his best life. That is proven by all his good works and volunteering to help so many others. I am so happy for Tim. He can see again and he is now with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And I have no doubt that Jeff was right there to welcome him to heaven. But my heart breaks for all of us who loved Tim. We can take comfort in knowing that we will see Tim again someday.
