As I’ve gotten older, I find myself envious of my late brother’s zeal for life. He seized life and enjoyed it in a way I never could. Good for you, Tom!

To Vicky and family, it is with my deepest sympathy that I send you my condolences. Tom and I spent four years together as teens at K & B in Lancaster. There is no doubt about it: Tom loved humor and he made me laugh more than I can remember. Tom had a very kind heart towards everyone regardless of who they were. We parted ways when I enlisted in the Air Force in 1968 for a 20 year career. And as is usual with high school friends we typically take with us our memories of the “days gone by.” I was glad to have had Tom share my young adult life with me I could not imagine what those years would have been like without him. Tom’s parting was a shock to me and has stirred up those old time memories which I cherish. Although I did not have the privilege of meeting Tom’s immediate and extended family, I can imagine he brought much joy into your lives, just as he did mine. I am well aware of the struggles your journey of grief will bring into your lives having myself lost my dear soul mate and wife Lynn to cancer in 2007 after 35 years together. If I can leave you with anything at all it would be this: Tom was a very special man and I am glad he shared his life with me for those four short years during the late 60’s. It is my hope that the character traits of Tom that remains in each of you will continue to reflect Tom’s continued presence in your lives. May your journey of grief be filled with memories to soften the moments of your tears. May the Lord himself enrich your lives with his love and comfort in these difficult times as he has done for me. Tom will be missed. Of that I am certain. Signed: Stephen Hebbe

Vicky, Heather, & Jessica: Can’t begin to express how deeply sorry I am to hear about Tom’s (your Dad) passing. It was such a shock and very sad to hear. I will never forget all the good times our families shared, those are some of my fondest memories. You picked a great photo of Tom as it is exactly the way I remember him. I feel very fortunate to have known Tom.
