Theodore “Ted” J. Gallagher, 77
December 15, 2025
Theodore “Ted” J. Gallagher, 77, of Willow Street, PA (formerly of Red Lion), passed away surrounded by family on December 15, 2025, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Kingston, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (McCready) Gallagher. Ted was a devoted and deeply loved husband to his wife of 56 years, Linda A. (Karstetter) Gallagher.
In addition to his wife, Linda, Ted is survived by his daughters, Amy Gallagher and Kathleen Gallagher (Daniel Hoehn); granddaughter, Anna Hoehn; and siblings: Joseph Gallagher, Mary Ellen Raines, and F. Glenn Gallagher.
Ted retired after 30 years as a chemistry and physics teacher and department chair at Kennard Dale High School (South Eastern School District), leaving a strong legacy with many students. He and Linda were active members of St. John’s U.C.C. of Red Lion for over 50 years where Ted wore many hats to support the greater work of the church. Ted was an avid reader, rarely seen without a book, who also found relaxation in puzzles and bicycling. Together, Ted and Linda traveled extensively, visiting 47 states across the country as well as destinations around the world.
An enthusiastic supporter of the arts, Ted treasured the time he spent every year at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire singing with friends, watching the crowds, and playing tricks on unsuspecting guests. Ted and Linda were long-time supporters of the Fulton Theatre. Ted, himself, was a successful playwright with several works produced at regional theatres.
A never-ending supporter, mentor, and cheerleader for his daughters, Amy and Katie, Ted was also incredibly proud of his granddaughter, Anna. He loved when all of his girls were together, talking and playing cards.
Services will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ted’s memory to RESCU, an organization that supports the medical needs of the Renaissance Faire community.
