Thelma F. McLaughlin, 96

Thelma F. McLaughlin, 96 of Brownstown, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on September 29th at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Irvington, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Frances (Unzner) England and was preceded in death by her husband William V. McLaughlin of Lancaster.
Thelma grew up in Irvington New York and worked for many years at the Burnham Corporation headquarters located there. While growing up in Irvington she attended and graduated from Irvington High School. Thelma moved to the Lancaster area with her family in 1969 and resided on Blossom Hill in Manheim Township, where she tended to her young family and later her grandchildren.
Thelma was a former member of Aldersgate United Methodist church, Dobbs Ferry NY. Upon moving to the Lancaster area, she became a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster and later in life, upon moving to Brownstown with her son George, was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where she was a trustee until the time of her death.
Thelma, the consummate homemaker, enjoyed teaching, mentoring and interacting with her two granddaughters, Erinn and Kelly and her four great grandchildren.
Thelma was also an avid gardener, and could always be seen by passers-by on West Main Street in Brownstown working in the yard pulling those ever-present weeds rain or shine.
She will be dearly missed by her son, George and daughter in law Raymeta McLaughlin, two grandchildren Erinn Palmowski of Aldie Va, and Kelly Garrett of Fawn Grove, Pa, four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, and her brother George.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family with private interment at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster in her name.

Thelma was an inspiration and example to many. Whenever I think of Emmanuel Church I remember her and her warm smile.
