Sylvia F. Garner, 86

Sylvia F. Garner, 86, of Brethren Village, passed from this life to her home in heaven on October 12, 2025. Born in Lancaster, she was the wife of Albert E. “Gene” Garner, and the daughter of the late Lester and Arlene Frey.

Sylvia graduated from Manheim Twp. High School and attended Southeastern Bible College in FL. After her children were grown, she worked as a secretary in the Manheim Central School District. Faith and children were very important to Sylvia as evidenced in her love of volunteer tutoring at a local elementary school, teaching VBS and helping with Sunday School, and writing and directing an annual Christmas play for her grandchildren to participate in.

Gene and Sylvia were married for 61 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children: Jodi Trayer and her husband Thomas, Heidi Weidler and her husband Herb, and her son Andrew; five grandchildren: Zachary Trayer and his wife Lily, Nicole Wiestling and her husband Adam, Gretchen Good and her husband Logan, Conrad Weidler and Troy Weidler. Also surviving four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Lois Buchbaum and Donna Thompson; sister-in-law, Helen Frey. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carly Weidler and a brother, Gerald Frey.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA. Family and friends will be received from 10-11AM at the church on Thursday.
