Sylvia A. Ottey, 81
November 10, 2023
Sylvia A. Ottey, 81, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at The Middletown Home.
Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late William Mitchell and Pauline (Ober) Mitchell. She was the wife of Francis M. Ottey.
Sylvia was an amazing cook. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and love, where she would pour her heart into every dish. A woman of many talents, Sylvia was a skilled knitter, crocheter, and seamstress. Her hands were always busy. In earlier years, she enjoyed dancing to the music of her husband’s band. She was a huge Elivs fan and she even passed that love on to her kids. Family was the cornerstone of Sylvia’s life. Her dedication to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was unwavering. She found immense joy in their company. Beyond her creative pursuits and hobbies, Sylvia was meticulous in maintaining her home. Whether inside or out, her house was the reflection of her care and attention to detail.
In addition to her husband, Francis, Sylvia is survived by her mother, Pauline Mitchell; her children, Sharon Purser, Shelly (Dane) Koppehele, and Jon (Dana) Ottey; her siblings, Lorraine Mitchell, John (Susan) Mitchell, Jake Mitchell, and Suzanne Mitchell; her grandchildren, Jarryd (Ashley), Lauren (Matthew), Megan (Matthew), Jack, Mitchell, Sophie, and Garrett; and her great-grandchildren, Natalie, Logan, Carter, Bridget, Rylee, and Dylan.
She was preceded in death by her father; and two siblings, Cynthia Mitchell and Thomas Mitchell.
Services will be held at a later date. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
