Our deepest sympathy to your family.  As part of Millersville University’s Purchasing Department, I had the pleasure (and honor) of working with Dr. Northwall.  She was a very caring person, whether it was dealing with her patients or her staff.  And she was both gracious and brave throughout her illness.  Dr. Northwall surely is an angel watching over you now.  Please take care. – Anna & Glenn Stauffer

I wanted to share with you, her daughters, how much your mother meant to me.  I got to know her through our art classes together in the last couple of years, and would go out for coffee/tea afterwards and chat.  She was so proud of you and her sweet granddaughter.  She was the most beautiful friend, inside and out.  I will genuinely miss her, her sweet smile, her positive attitude, her gracious caring and gentle countenance.  She loved you and loved the Lord.  Will see her again in heaven.  Blessings, Jennifer Myers

I extend my deepest sympathy to Peter, Carla and Lisa.  I always enjoyed seeing the 2 of you Carla when you’d come in for visits.  The last I saw her I know she was thrillled to be going to Wisconsin to care for her beloved Ava.  Even in the throws of treatment, she still had a positive attitude and a sense of calm about where she was going to be for eternity. Her spirit lives on in the many patients lives she positively influenced.  May God bless you as you grieve and my heart goes out to your family on this first Mother’s day without her.

Carla and family – My thoughts and prayers are with you – I had the pleasure of sharing conversation and memories with your mother several months ago.  We reminisced about your school days – even the chicks you raised! She told me then that it would probably be the last time we would talk together, and so she has been in my thoughts and prayers ever since.  Love, Miss Kaylor

I was so happy to see Susan and her family make the trip from PA to our wedding in RI in October 1999, and certainlt appreciate her attending my parents’ 50 annversay party in Iowa City.  But perhaps the fondest memories are those spent with her and my other cousins long ago on the front porch of Grammie’s house in Red Oak. –Jeff K.

I was sorry to learn of Dr. Northwall’s demise. As a former patient and classmate, I can attest to her gentle spirit and delicate laugh. Grace and kindness were her calling cards for her patients and friends. The world is a sadder place in her absence. May memories of her life buoy her family in the years ahead, that they might always have reason to give thanks for her life. Eccl. 7: 1-3 Haydn McLean

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my friend and colleague, Dr. Sue Northwall.  Her kind words, encouragement and dedication to the care of others was an inspiration to me personally, her coworkers and the many students whose lives she touched during their transition to adulthood while attending college for the first time.  I had the privilege to work with her during her tenure at Millersville University as Medical Director, and enjoyed her laugh, warm disposition and caring manner.  I feel honored to have known her, even for the brief few years that I provided part-time coverage for the student health center. I wish to extend my sincerest condolences to her family for their loss, and pray they take comfort in the knowledge that she now rests eternally in the loving arms of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Rest in Peace, Sue.
Fondly,
Joseph V. De Santi, M.D.

She certainly was a gentle soul and an inspiration to all who she met.  She was a fighter and a positive thinker.  I am honored to have known Susan.  She certainly made a huge impact on me as a breast cancer survivor and one she invited to serve with her at Millersville.  She will truly, truly be missed by all!!!

To the family of Susan:
When I read this morning that Sue had died on Tuesday, I was so grateful I had visited her on Thursday 5/4. She was sitting up and knew me immediately. I gave her a prayer shawl and she seemed to enjoy touching it. It was a short but meaningful visit.
I enjoyed knowing Sue for these past 30 years!! I was a family practice resident at Community Hospital of Lancaster when Sue was the program director. Over the years, we served on some hospital committees together, specifically the IRB at Ephrata Community Hospital which reviewed clinical trials. Sue was a great supporter of cancer research, especially breast cancer research. Three years ago, she invited me to work part-time at Millersville University Health Services, where she was the Medical Director. I am continuing in that role, along with my rural family practice.
I considered Sue a very special friend and colleague. She touched many lives over the years. She will be missed.

Most sincerely,
Deborah Hagey D.O.
