Steven Keiper, 67
June 24, 2019
Steve Keiper, 67, of Lancaster passed away unexpectedly on June 24 following complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Having grown up in the Elizabethtown area, Steve was the son of the late Millie and Bob Keiper. He graduated from Lower Dauphin High School and the Harrisburg campus of Penn State University with a BS in electrical engineering. He was happily married for 32 years to Janet Frankhouser Keiper.
Steve was passionate about his hobbies — fishing, skiing, flying RC helicopters and drones, and learning about ancient cultures, space, and science. He was fascinated by the beauty of the earth, the moon, and the stars. Family and friends could count on his producing creative and treasured videos of each and every special event. Steve loved making people happy.
After retiring as a quality engineer for Bulova and Honeywell, Steve and Janet headed West, spending winters in Steamboat Springs CO, enjoying the snow, skiing, making friends, and working part-time for the local ski resort. Everywhere he went, Steve always found something that captivated his interest. He will be remembered for his amazingly quick wit, keen sense of humor, and his knowledge of technology.
In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by his son, Adam, husband of Andrea, of Palmyra; his daughter, Nicole, wife of Mark Luther, of Milton DE: his sister Kathy Vogelsong, wife of Bill, of Elizabethtown, and his brother, Jim, husband of Deb, of Little Falls, NY. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Ron and David Frankhouser, three grandsons, Luke and Jack Keiper and Henry Luther, five nephews, Logan and Conner Vogelsong and Ryan, Kyle and Harrison Frankhouser, two nieces, Jenni and Melissa and a great niece, Beulah. This younger generation of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews brought Steve special joy and an opportunity to share his wit, life knowledge, and all those crazy special gadgets that attracted his attention.
Memorial Services will be held at 11AM, Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz PA 17543. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Steve’s name be made to Rock Steady Parkinson’s Boxing Program, https://rocksteadyboxing.org/donate/ or Yampa Valley Parkinsinson’s Network at Parkinson Association of the Rockies https://parkinsonrockies.org/online-donation/

Janet, Kathy, Jim and family, I still haven’t gotten over the shock of hearing about Steve. What a wonderful soul he was. Have known him since we were youngsters, and used to go fishing together on the farm. So sorry for the loss of your husband and big brother. So sorry I wasn’t able to attend the memorial service, but recently had total knee replacement, and am not able to travel from SC this soon. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Janet and Family,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Steve was an amazing guy and neighbor. Always ready to lend a helping hand if he could. He will always be remembered for his cheerfulness, watching his remote control helicopter and drones fly over our house when we lived across the street, our get togethers and his stories of adventure!
May he Rest In Peace. All our love.
Sandy Sills and son Dan
