August 27, 2021
Stephen “Steve” Wayne Souza, 77 of Lancaster, passed away on August 28, 2021. He was the son of the late Walter and Gloria (Martin) Souza and shared over 55 years of marriage with his wife Karen H. (Hazard) Souza.
Born in Cambridge, MA, Steve graduated Arlington High School before working as a branch manager and salesman for G & T Industries from which he retired. He was an avid golfer at the Conestoga Country Club, where his fellow linksmen gave him his nickname of Seve. Steve was a loyal New England Patriots fan for many years before it became fashionable. He even had the opportunity to attend the Patriots first ever home game. A hardworking Christian, Steve was known for being a dedicated family man who ran a tight ship.
In addition to his wife Karen, Steve is survived by his 4 children: Jennifer Robitaille, Stephen W. Souza (Kimberly), Jason E. Souza (Laurie), and Stacey H. Souza; his sister Carolyn Ingles, 11 grandchildren (who adoringly referred to Steve as Buppy), 1 great-grandchild, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Walter Souza and his son Jarrett Christopher Souza.

My buddy Steve. I had a chance to train and sell with Steve in his last year at G&T. We laughed so much and had such a great time everytime we traveled. I loved playing golf with him and he truly became a good friend of mine. We did have a chance to talk on the phone during Covid and we were still laughing. I just found out about his passing and I am deeply sorry for your loss. See you on the other side Steve.

A man such as Steve will never need words in print to honor him, his path in life has already proven his legacy. All people should aspire to be as honorable and caring as Steve. He was a friend, mentor, and colleague, but most importantly a true friend to all.

Wow … I am so touched by his passing. A lot of good times over the years. I hired Steve at G&T almost 40 years ago and he gave so much as someone I could always count on. Just a bright caring guy with a great work ethic. I always admired his devotion to his family which was always his first priority. Steve you fought a great fight to stay with us. Karen you had a hell of a guy and to Tracy, Jennifer, Steve, and Jason you had a heck of a dad. I know I will think fondly of Steve often. You will be missed.

Dearest Jen, Karen, Trey, Emma, and family,
Although we are miles apart, I’m carrying you all in my heart. As a young mom with an autistic preschooler and a new born baby a thousand miles away from anything familiar, Buppy adopted us as his very own. We were immediately invited to holidays and fully embraced as part of the family. I’ll forever be grateful and cherish his compassionate heart and wit! May his memory continue to bless you all as you celebrate his beautiful life! His legacy is quite large and lives in you.
All my love,
Carrie VanBuskirk

Great Friend, Person, Co-worker and MENTOR! Taught me so much over my 34 years with G&T. My very first time on the links Steve took me to the Host, rented clubs and on the first tee he told me to relax, not to grip the club tight I swung, ball went about a foot and the club flew out of my hands and almost stuck up in the tree. We had many many GREAT times over the years and again I have to thank Steve for a lot of my sucess. Hearts and prayers to the whole family as they all were and are still a class act. I will miss him dearly!
