For many years I tried to locate Shirley and could never find her. We were very close in HS and years afterward but unfortunately lost touch long ago. The last time I saw her was in 1973. As recently as the first week of this October I thought of her and tried again to find her, and even mentioned to a friend that I hadn’t been successful. I gasped when I opened the Sunday paper obituaries to see her sweet face and smile looking back at me. How I wish we could have reconnected. I have many fond memories of Shirley and I will never forget her. I am very sad and so sorry for your loss. Sandi Smith Bonenberger

To the Birkenbine family,
So sorry for your loss. I worked with Shirley at the Roseville. We always had so much fun together. Shirley was a great waitress and I considered her a friend. I know she will be missed by all.
