Scot T. Chapman, 55

June 12, 2018

Scot T. Chapman, 55, of Lititz, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care. Born in Bronxville, NY, he was the son of Clarence “Rick” Chapman and the late Estelle Marie (Wilson) Chapman.
After graduating Bronxville High School, Scot entered the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served for five years and travelled the world from the Aleutian Islands in Alaska to Honduras where he achieved a top-level security clearance position as a Corporal. His experience in the Marine Corps led him to return to New York and work in the field of telecommunications. It was here that he met his best friend and beloved wife of almost 25 years, Annie.
Anne and Scot had a love story like no other and he was devoted to her and their children Connor and Katherine, both of whom inherited Scot’s quick wit. Scot was heavily involved with Boy Scout Troop 142. He stayed on as a Troop Father until Connor became an Eagle Scout, an achievement in which Scot was tremendously proud of Connor for accomplishing. He enjoyed being outdoors and especially loved going on weekend hikes with his family and their annual summer trips to the Outer Banks. He also grew up spending his summers in Pine Plains, NY with his many close cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. He was incredibly proud of his daughter Katherine and her achievements in the arts. He was so happy to hear that she crossed the stage at graduation as a member of Warwick Class of 2018. Prior to the official graduation, the Administration came to the house and performed a private ceremony for Scot.
Scot is survived by his loving wife Anne (Stewart) Chapman and his dear children, Connor and Katherine Chapman and his faithful dog Izzy. He is also survived by his father, Clarence “Rick” Chapman, beloved brother and best friend, Brian Chapman and wife Donna, sister Kathy Porter, and late brother Rick Chapman, nieces Colby Chapman and Ashley Robinson, Ashley’s husband Greg and their daughter Harper, nephews Clayton and Matthew Chapman, sister-in-law Mary Ascherl, Mary’s husband Peter and their daughter Emily, brother-in-law George Stewart and his wife Mary Ellen, brother-in-law Robert Stewart, brother-in-law Joseph Stewart and his wife and children and many dear aunts, cousins and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory located at 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, 17543. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 15, 2018, at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church located at 505 Woodcrest Ave, Lititz, PA 17543. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Chapman Education Fund under Anne Stewart Chapman at BB&T Bank located at 3130 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 or any BB&T Location. Donations in Scot’s name can also be made to Hospice and Community Care at 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.

Dear Anne, Catherine and Connor,
Scot and I were high school classmates and football teammates.  He played defensive tackle in 10th grade on varsity at 165lbs.  All grit, all effort, all heart.  And then off the field he was all-world great guy.   Scot seemed to have this inner peace.  He knew who he was at a time when none of the rest of us did.  I haven’t seen him since high school but all this is very clear to me.   Our prayers are with all of you.  Michael Connors

My deepest condolences to the Chapman family from a classmate of Scot’s who remembers him fondly and whose personal experiences have left me with a profound understanding of all we owe to our veterans.

Annie and the entire Chapman family,
So sorry for your loss.
I’m grateful to have had the chance to have one last conversation with you and Scott last week. He was so present and lucid.
Although we haven’t seen each other for years, or even decades, I know how much he will be missed. He was one of the nicest guys that I ever met.
Our thoughts are with all of you during these difficult times.
And all our love as well.

Dear Anne and family–
I worked for Scot at D&E Communications. He was a truly decent man and was a great leader and team-builder to the not just our department, but the company as a whole. On the occasions when we spoke of matters outside of work, it was obvious to me how much he cared about his family. I am sorry that we lost touch after D&E shut down, but I am even more aggrieved at the loss that your family has suffered. You have my most sincere condolences.

Anne, Connor & Katherine,
I am so very sorry to hear of your loss of husband & Dad.  Although my family didn’t know Scot well, we think of him as a friendly, nice, honorable man.  Knowing you, his family, is a testament to the wonderful life he led and example he set.  I pray that you feel the Lord’s comfort and Scot’s presence in your lives.
