Ruth P. Dirks, 87

Ruth P. Dirks, 87, formerly of 1707 Temple Ave., Lancaster, died Thursday morning at Conestoga View.

She was the wife of the late John B. Dirks, Sr., who died in 1976. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Fritsch Peters.

Ruth had worked at the Hamilton Watch Co. for 40 years, until her retirement in 1981.

She had enjoyed bowling and playing cards, was an avid cook, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Ruth was a member of St. Leo The Great Catholic Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Sally E. Heist of Millersville; a son, John B, Jr. married to Barbara S. Dirks of Lancaster; 3 grandchildren, Peter Heist, Angela Barto, and Kimberly Dirks, and by a great grandson, Damon Barto.

Friends will be received on Saturday at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, from 9-10AM with Mass to follow at 10AM. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
