Rosemary Stella (Keough) McPartland, 95

January 26, 1926

Rosemary Stella Keough McPartland, 95, of Millersville passed away on February 25, 2021. Born in Philadelphia, PA on January 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John George and Rosella (Roth) Keough. Rosemary was also the wife of the late Harry Joseph McPartland, Sr. with whom she shared 62 ½ years of marriage until his death on August 18, 2010.

Rosemary graduated from West Catholic Girls High School, Philadelphia, in 1943 and also graduated First in her class and with honors from Cape May County Vocational & Technical in 1982 in Cape May Court House, NJ, receiving a special pin for her accomplishment. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary for Cape May County Health Department in their Visiting Nursing Division. Throughout her life Rosemary also worked as a Special Education Teacher’s Aide in area schools in Chester & Delaware counties, was an Avon Lady in Collingdale, PA, a Lunch Lady at Collingdale High School in Collingdale, PA, and a Waitress in her parents Restaurants in Philadelphia, Pa and Wildwood, NJ. In 1988, Rosemary moved from Cape May to Lancaster County.

In her younger years, Rosemary loved to dance at the USO in Philadelphia, PA and roller skating at Chez Vous Roller Skating Rink in Upper Darby, PA, where she met her husband Harry J. McPartland in 1945. She loved all kinds of music, especially Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey. Along with her husband and family, she enjoyed traveling up and down the east coast on regular road trips, taking big trips to the Caribbean, Bermuda, and Hawaii, and going on cruises. She was always up to travel to new places, try new restaurants, and attend different churches. In Rosemary’s downtime she would watch movies, news, and especially liked Hallmark Channel and British comedies.

Rosemary was a woman of faith and was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Millersville and a former member of St. Anthony of Padua in Lancaster, St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Quarryville, and St. John of God Catholic Church in North Cape May, as well as many other churches throughout the years. Rosemary was also a member of the Christ Child Society and the Alter and Rosary Society of Cape May.

Rosemary and her daughter were a Mother Daughter team when it came to volunteering. Together they volunteered with Holy Redeemer Hospice in Cape May, Saint Joseph Hospital Day Care in Lancaster, Conestoga View Nursing home in Lancaster, and Saint Anne’s Nursing Home in Columbia.

In the Mid 1990s, Rosemary attended a number of ASAP American Syringomyelia and Chiari malformation Alliance Project Medical Conferences to support her daughter Jill who has Chiari Malformation.

A kind and compassionate soul, Rosemary was always taking care of others before herself. A dedicated mother and caregiver, Rosemary was a foster mother and adopted all her children.

Her family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and care staff of Lancashire Hall and Hospice and Community Care for their dedicated care both at home and at their inpatient facilities.

Surviving are 2 children; Harry “Hank” McPartland, husband of Sandy of King of Prussia, and Jill McPartland of Millersville.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rosemary is preceded in death by a son, Stephen J. McPartland, a sister, Miriam Keough Crandley, and brothers John Keough III, and Richard Keough.

Condolences to the Family

I am fond memories of Aunt Rosemary and Uncle Harry. They were both so thoughtful and made an effort to always visit their sister-in-law Betty Keough. Aunt Rosemary had the most beautiful smile. I send my prayers to Hank and Jill. All our love, Charlie and Linda Keough. The service was beautiful!
