Ronald Joseph Fox, Jr., 59

August 16, 1961 - June 16, 2021

Ronald Joseph Fox, Jr., 59, unexpectedly passed away at his Strasburg home Wednesday, June 16, 2021. He was born in Philadelphia to Theresa (Poirier) Bitting and the late Ronald Joseph Fox. Ron shared 37 beautiful years of marriage with his loving wife Darlene (Hookway) Fox.

He attended Father Judge High School in Philadelphia and graduated from Perkiomen Valley High School in Collegeville. A standout athlete, Ron played Division 1 football on scholarship at Wichita State University, Kansas, and then completed his bachelor’s degree in construction engineering at Drexel University. Ron worked as Director of Preconstruction for Wohlsen Construction and was a member of the American Society of Professional Estimators.

A faithful parishioner of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Ron was active with Knights of Columbus, St. John Neumann Council 12532 and a fixture at the Knights’ annual pig roast fundraiser. He was also a 4th Degree Knight with Santa Maria Assembly 915.

A man large in stature and larger still in heart, Ron was a wonderful son and brother, a devoted husband, a loving father and a steadfast friend. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met. After his football career, he remained athletic all of his life; and in his free time, he enjoyed classic cars and hunting, especially pheasant hunting.

In addition to his mother Theresa and his wife Darlene, Ron is survived by three children: Jocelyn A. Fox; Ronald Joseph Fox, III, fiancé of Dr. Nhi Tran; and Gabrielle M. Martens, wife of Daniel; and his sister, Cynthia Y. Fox. His father, Ronald Joseph Fox, and his sister, Christina L. Frankhouser, preceded Ron in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11 AM Friday, June 25, 2021 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, with The Rev. Daniel F.X. Powell as Celebrant. Ron’s family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM at the Church. Private burial will take place at Limerick Garden of Memories, Royersford, PA.

Please omit flowers, and kindly consider a memorial contribution to Knights of Columbus, St. John Neumann Council #12532 Charities, 601 E. Delp Road, Lancaster, PA 17601.

Condolences to the Family

July 05, 2021

Dear family,
Our deep condolences for your loss. Ron was a gigantic Beautiful Soul.
As my dad said, Ron’s stories and his joy for life loomed large in our family. I remember seeing him as a kid and even then it striking me to meet someone who seemed so kind yet so physically imposing. It did feel like meeting a superhero.
Later, it was always such a pleasure to see Darlene and Ron together. It’s great to see true love and it’s great to see two people together who enjoyed each other’s company. And Ron was always such a fun and interesting person to talk to. He’d done so much and he’d seen so much. Always fascinating.
I feel honored to have known Ron. He inspires me with how he lived his life.
From our family to yours, our condolences for your loss.He will be missed.

Ron and I have known each other for over 35 years. There are hundreds of memories that run through my mind and probably just as many that I have forgotten.
We became friends while working for the same construction company in the early 80’s. I have shared countless adventures with Ron in this business. Luckily, our personal lives had alot less drama.
We shared countless laughs, serious moments, sad moments, conversations about family, sports and work,  and occasionally we would even get mad at each other.
We watched our families grow up. A topic in many of our conversations. Ron was very proud of his family. He has a beautiful wife, Darlene and (3) kids to show for it. It was gratifying to watch Jocelyn, Gabby and Ron grow up to be succesfull adults (just like their parents).
As written in the obituary above, Ron was a man large in stature and bigger still in heart. That was Ron.
I was blessed to have such a friend with many memories.
I will miss my friend.

Darlene, Jocelyn, Ronnie, Gaby, Theresa, Cindy, family & friends,
My deepest condolences, along with my heartfelt love and prayers for you all. Ron is truly a Legend, as a man, a husband, dad, son, brother and friend. I am just devastated, and my heart is crushed for each of you. Ron was such a positive influence to me throughout my entire life, and the lives of many others. I Love Him, and I will be forever broken without his friendship in my life. May our Lord hold you and fill with His peace, in Jesus Christ, amen. 🙏🏽

Ron was a giant in my life. My kids grew up hearing Ron Fox stories. Those stories almost always were founded on his care for someone in trouble…his kindness.
But man, could he get himself into challenging scrapes! Then he’d work himself out of them and save the day. He’d tell me the story and we’d laugh and laugh. He was the closest thing to a superhero I’ve met in my life.
I know he’d be mortified that his passing has caused so much pain to those who love him. But this was one fight he couldn’t win. We get to move forward with his memory in our hearts, though, motivating us to love intensely and help others.
Our families have a unique bond due to several extraordinary circumstances. I know the surprise European cruise (that you kids gave) touched your parents  deeply. I often remind my kids of that gift and tell them it’s the gold standard of childing.
I will miss my friend Ron Fox. Yet I know he is somehow still with me. I hope I can live in a way that gives him a smile and makes him proud. He lived that way for me.

So sorry to hear of Ron’s passing.  I always enjoyed working with him.   I always thought of him as a older brother and mentor.  We could pick up the phone and talk as if time stood still.  He genuinely cared for everyone.
He will be missed.

So sorry to hear this news. Ronnie was a younger cousin and he was a kind person. He and Darlene would visit their dad often when he was at Naval home.
Ron is remembered in prayer.
