Ronald Essex “Ron” Parker, 90

January 25, 2024

Ronald “Ron” Essex Parker, 90, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Legend of Lititz surrounded by family. Born on September 5, 1933 in his great-grandmother’s home in Wheelersburg, OH, he was the son of the late Essex & Omega Parker. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marcia Ann Parker.

Ron met Marcia during his time in the Navy when she was a USO hostess. They had a true May to December romance and were married on December 12, 1953.

Shortly thereafter, they welcomed two daughters, Robin & Leslie. They were always Ron’s “two girls” and with them by his side, he always felt loved and cared for, especially in his later years.

Ron retired from Lancaster Malleable in 1998 after being there for 40 years. He soon became restless and went to work at Manheim Auto Auction driving cars. By then he had 5 grandchildren and loved telling them about the fancy cars he got to drive!

Ron was a true family man; he adored his daughters and grandchildren. As the family grew, so did the twinkle in his eye. He was always there for all of us and seeing him become a great-grandfather to 5 (soon to be 6) great-grandchildren is something that he was so proud of.

In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his daughters, Robin Bucher & Leslie (David) Buckwalter, grandchildren, Brooke Bucher, Ashley (James) Luckenbaugh, Zachary (Stephanie) Buckwalter, Carley (Michael) Ciccarone, & MacKenzie Buckwalter, & 5 great-grandchildren, Cooper, Ava, Brooks, Natalie & Lane.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennie Parker & son-in-law Dean Bucher.

Our family would like to thank Legend of Lititz & Grane Hospice for the care they provided Ron over the last few years.

Services will be private and in lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Grane Hospice, 1200 Camp Hill Bypass Suite 205, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
