Ronald Edward Bennett, 77

June 12, 1943 - August 26, 2020

Ronald Edward Bennett, 77, of Manheim Twp., passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. Born in Ridgway, PA, he was the son of the late George and Katherine (Morgan) Bennett. Ronald was the beloved husband of Joan M. (Vorndran) Bennett, and together they celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Following his graduation from Altoona High School in 1963, Ronald honorably served his country during Vietnam as a member of the US Army. He worked as a Saw Operator for Edgcomb Metals in York, retiring in 2008 after more than 40 years of service. Following retirement, he continued being an avid woodworker; a hobby which he loved and was passionate about sharing with everyone. He also became the proud owner of a 1980 Corvette. His family, and especially his grandchildren, were his greatest pride and joy. Ronald was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lancaster.

In addition to his wife, Joan, Ronald is survived by three daughters: Tricia Myers and her husband Ken of Orefield, PA; Karen Henry of Lancaster; and Jill Marinaro and her husband Marco of Lititz. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren: Ben and Lauren Myers, Caroline, Shawn and Justin Henry, and Grace, Bella and Abby Marinaro. Also surviving is his brother, Bill Bennett, husband of Norma, of Hollidaysburg, PA; a sister-in-law, Ann Bennett of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Carl and Jim Bennett and sister Joan Bennett.

A viewing will take place from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 31, 2020, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 East Delp Road, Lancaster, PA, 17601. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman. I will always have fond memories of Mr. Bennett teasing me as a kid (and even as an adult sometimes!) He was a fun person to be around and I know he adored his family. My wooden “Amy” sign was a treasured gift from him. Much love and hugs to Mrs. Bennett, Karen, Tricia and Jill.

What a special wonderful man with a mountain of creative talents which were surpassed only by the love he had for his family, friends and especially the children. All the comments from the people written above show the impression him left on others. We were fortunate and proud to have known Ron for more than 30 years. He will be sorely missed by us and all he touched but the memories of him will live on in all of us and I know he will continue to play his tricks on us all with his big smile.  With Love,  Karin and Bob Ellinger

We were stunned, and so sad, to hear of Ron’s passing.  Truly, our hearts are heavy.  He was such an upbeat guy and so young at heart.  He spoke of his family with a deep love and great pride.  May your memories give you strength and comfort.  To Joan, Karen and your families, we feel your loss and offer our sincerest sympathy.  You are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.
