Roger H. Flury, 76

September 24, 2023

Roger H. Flury, 76, of Lancaster passed away September 24, 2023. He was born in the winter of 1946 to the late Calvin K. and Mary (Boyer) Flury in Lancaster. Roger was a 3rd generation foundry man and dedicated 28 years to the family business, Flury Foundry, where he served as president for many years. He retired from the industry in 2010.

Roger had many passions including cooking, gardening, deep-sea fishing, and football. His soups were a family favorite and he aimed for perfection. His cooking talents also extended to smoking meats and barbequing. Deep-sea fishing held a special place in his heart, as it was an activity he enjoyed with his family and most recently with his grandsons, whom he loved dearly. In his youth, Roger loved football from a young age and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles Fan and he also played on the Manheim Township varsity football team.

Roger was a valued member of the American Foundry Society and served as the Chairman of the Conestoga Foundryman’s Association. His contributions to these organizations exemplified his commitment to advancing the foundry industry and fostering a sense of unity among its members.

Roger Flury’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his beloved family, including his wife and soulmate Cheryl Flury; his children Jason Flury husband of Ashli, and Katherine Needham wife of Tom; his grandsons Christopher Needham, Luke Needham, Ryan Flury, Andrew Flury and William Flury; and his brother Calvin Flury Jr. He will also be fondly remembered by his countless friends and colleagues.

A memorial service to honor Roger Flury’s life will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home III, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street PA on October 8, 2023. Family invites guests to a visitation beginning at 9:30AM with service to follow at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Amyloidosis Foundation, 7151 N. Main Street Suite 2, Clarkson, MI 48346, or to Hospice and Community Care, hospiceandcommunitycare.org in his memory.

Fond memories, especially of our sailfishing trip in Stuart, Florida several years ago.  Also, the summer Cheryl and Roger saved my butt on the Bay when I wandered onto their dock after being in 100 degree temps with 80 degree dewpoints out on the water.  Always enjoyed seeing him. John Stehman
