Verna and Diane,
I was deeply distressed to learn of Rodney’s death this morning. Rodney was a great inspiration to Judy and me, and we greatly appreciated both his ‘marvelous mechanical Moseman machines’ and the gentle, kind, and humorous person who crafted them. Our relationship, starting in 1981, spanned four decades of tandems and mechanical wizardry, and included many rides with you, as well as enjoying your hospitality. Rodney greatly supported all that we did, both on and off the bikes. His leadership with the Eastern Tandem Rally inspired me to help run the organization for a number of years after he retired, and contributed directly to helping many others learn the teamwork and enjoyment of the sport. I trust he and Judy have caught up with each other in heaven and ride together regularly, over the rainbow.

Dear Verna and family,
I’m saddened to learn of Rodney’s passing and my deepest condolences.
I’m forever grateful for Rodney’s friendship to me. He treated me like an adult when I was merely a kid. He graciously and generously sponsored so many cycling teams during my time in Lancaster. He was my biggest supporter after my parents, and through his sponsorship I was able to pursue my passion and dream of racing a bike.
His friendship and support helped form me as a person. Even after moving west we still caught up from time to time. Thank you Rodney for all that you taught me. My memories of you will always be ones of gratefulness and love. I still have my Moseman frame from 1988 and it rides like a dream.

I am so sorry to hear of Rodney’s passing. He was one of my very first friends when I moved to Lancaster in 1977. He helped me many times and was a major sponsor through his shop, Bicycle World, both for the team and also the races we put on in the area. God speed!

Verna and family, my condolences to you. I had the pleasure of working for Rodney in 1977 and 78 at Bicycle World. He was an amazing man that had a wealth of knowledge and kindness. I have memories of stopping work so we could watch the Muppet Show Tuesday evenings. He was closed on Mondays so we could get caught up on work at the shop, then take off on a bike ride together to try out some new part on our bikes for sales experience. I got such appreciation for bicycling and cyclists in those years. He was a truly wonderful person and asset to his community. He will be missed.

I have a long history with Rodney, since 1980, when he built the first of three custom bikes for me. What a pleasure it was to deal with such a competent, professional, and caring person. So much so, obviously, that after bike #1, I came back for a racing bike and a tandem (which Mike and I still ride weekly). Mike met Rodney later, and we both enjoyed Rodney and Verna’s company at many BBC Kent County weekends, at Rodney’s retirement rides, and in their lovely home on Main Street–where Verna always had a big pot of soup on the stove. We treasure our relationship with the Mosemans. They were a very special couple and gave a lot to the sport of cycling. They will be sorely missed. Our heartfelt condolences to Verna and the family. To the family,
I knew Rodney through Bicycle World. He will be missed. I send my condolences and wish you all the best as you grieve your loss. I will think of Rodney as I pedal my 1979 Moseman and whenever my wife and I put the Moseman tandem on the road.

wow, always enjoyed talking with Rodney. Any time I would see him, even after his accident he was in a good mood and enjoyed engaging people.
I bought a 10speed bike from him in 1984 with graduation money and later I would work with him through my business (Lititz Sign Co)
Long time freindship is hard to come by.
He will be missed

To Verna and family: Wishing you strength and comfort through this difficult time. Thinking of you and wishing you moments of peace and comfort. I served with Rodney on the Lititz Retailers Association (Now Venture Lititz) for many years and always appreciated his respectful manners. Later when my two boys had an interest in bikes and the CoreStates sponsored races held in Lancaster and Philadelphia he spent many hours coaching my boys and Bicycle World keep the bikes in great repair. Please accept my warmest condolences. Terry McGuigan, Fulton Bank Retired.
