Roberta J. Swayne, 66

December 8, 1953 - October 14, 2020

Roberta “Bert” J. Swayne, 66, of Lancaster, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. She was born in Lancaster to the late Joseph Robert Kelec, Sr. and Agnes H. (Garrison) Kelec. Bert enjoyed 41 years of marriage with her husband, Martin “Pip” L. Swayne, Jr., before his death in 2014.

A 1971 graduate of J. P. McCaskey High School, she worked for RR Donnelley at the Harrisburg Pike plant. Known as “Rosie” to her co-workers, she started as a roll tender and retired in December, 2019 as a hoist operator.

Most important to Roberta was spending time with her family. Bert enjoyed reading and crocheting, and she loved going to concerts and listening to classic rock, rock and country music.

Roberta is survived by her daughter, Kori L. Swayne of Quarryville, her son, Gregory M. Swayne, husband of Kelly L. (Kauffman) and their daughter Kaleigh E. Swayne all of Landisville, and her sister Jo Ann Bear, companion of David W. Irwin of Lancaster.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bert was preceded in death by her brother Joseph R. Kelec, Jr.

Private services and burial will take place in Conestoga Memorial Park. Please omit flowers, and kindly consider a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.

Rosie, I really didn’t think I would be writing this so soon after your retirement. I just want to say that I liked working with you and you did show me a lot over at Dock A. We did have our differences but in the end we became good friends. I will miss the lunches we had together with friends and co-workers!! RIP my friend❤️❤️ Until we meet again🤗🙏
