Robert N. “Bob” Aspril, 79, of Lancaster, PA passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 with his family by his side.
Born in New Providence, PA he was the husband of Jane M. (Kneisley) Aspril with whom he was married for 56 years and the son of the late Curtis B. and Laura (Bruce) Aspril. Bob was the father of Brad S. Aspril of Lancaster, PA and Robb S. Aspril husband of Carla of Hampstead, MD, proud grandfather of six grandsons Erik, Kevin, Joshua, Corey, Cody and Zachary; one sister-in-law Jean Aspril of Lancaster, PA and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his brother Curtis Aspril.
Bob was a graduate of Solanco High School and Elizabethtown College. He served for 6 years in the US Army Reserves and played 3 years of professional baseball with the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Solanco Hall of Fame, 7th and 8th Ward Clubs, Abraham C. Treichler Masonic Lodge 682 in Elizabethtown and served on the board of the Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame Committee for many years. He worked for 25 years for J.B. Van Sciver Co., 9 years with Interiors 2000 and 6 years with Lancaster County where he held management positions throughout his entire career. Bob was active in sports as a player and coach most of his life and was successful in winning championships in the midget and legion baseball programs.
Memorial services will be held Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11AM from Redeemer Lutheran Church, 500 Pearl St. Lancaster, PA 17603 with Pastor David Kreider officiating. Interment will be held in Riverview Burial Park with Military Honors accorded by the Red Rose Honor Guard. A visitation will be held from 9AM until the time of the Memorial Service at the Church.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I remember playing baseball as a kid and Mr. Aspril was always on hand to teach and inspire everyone who came in contact with him. He was truly a great person to be around.

Dear Brad: I was sorry to read in today’s paper about your father’s death. I only met your dad one or two times, but I could tell that he was indeed a very good person.
