Robert M. Byerly, 90

Robert M. Byerly, 90, of Luther Acres in Lititz, passed away at his residence on Sunday, August 4, 2013.
He was the husband of the late Betty L. (Graver) Byerly, who passed away in 1999.
Born in Lancaster, he was son of the late Jay P. and Emma Marie Wolf Byerly.
Bob had been a US Navy veteran, first serving in World War II in the Pacific on the USS Cabot CVL-28 aircraft carrier. He continued to serve in the Naval Reserves after discharge until 1982.
He had been the vice president of engineering for Esterline Technologies Corporation, working there 21 years until his retirement in 1990.
Bob had been a member of BPOE Elks 134 of Lancaster, the Society of Automative Engineers, the Unwind Club and the USS Cabot CVL-28 Assn. He was an avid fisherman and a lifelong Phillies fan. Bob enjoyed traveling and had taken 2 round-the-world cruises. He was also a member of Lititz United Methodist Church.
He was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by his companion, Suzanne Sload.
Friends will be received on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 10-11AM at Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 E. Market St., Lititz, PA , with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Bob’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
