Robert Howard Himes, 74

February 17, 2023

Robert Howard Himes was born in Mineola, NY, on September 11, 1948, and passed into eternity in Lancaster, PA, on February 17, 2023, at 74 years old.

The son of Willis Ray and Jane (Shaw) Himes, Robert (or Bobby as he was affectionately called by his mother and sisters), spent his early years in the Hempstead area of Long Island, before moving to Norristown, PA, where he met his wife Linda, who lived in the same neighborhood as he. Bob graduated from the former A.D. Eisenhower High School in Norristown, and later finished his college education at the former Pillsbury Baptist Bible College of Owatonna, Minnesota.

Bob and Linda were married on June 16, 1973, and would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 16, 2023. During their married years, Bob and Linda lived and raised their family in the Lansdale, PA area, before moving to Strasburg, PA, in 1984, and spending their recent years in Lancaster, PA.

Bob pursued ministry at an early age, but found his life redirected toward sales in his early married years, working in pharmaceutical, medical, and radio sales throughout his career. In his later, semi-retired years, Bob parlayed his enjoyment of driving to a part-time career driving limousine, and then school bus.

Bob was a professing Christian since his early years and spent many years serving in his local church as a pastoral intern, Sunday School teacher, deacon, youth leader, and singing in the choir.

Bob is survived by his wife Linda (Bennett) Himes, his children Todd (married to Natasha), Bethany (married to Jason), Timothy (married to Shelley), Joshua, and Jennifer (married to Steven), as well as fifteen grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his two sisters, Susan Moyer and Laurie Midgley.

Services will be private and at the convenience of family.

Condolences to the Family

March 02, 2023

I’m sorry to hear about Bob’s passing and would like to send my condolences to the family.  I have good memories of doing bus trips with Bob and having great conversations with Bob about our common interests.  He left us way too soon.   Phil Benner

I’ve been a friend of the Himes family since I was a teenager. I probably spent more time at their house than at mine. Bob was a good friend as were both his sisters. We had great times of fellowship that I miss. Richard Brunt
