Robert E. Missimer, 53
Robert E. Missimer, 53, of Lancaster, PA entered into rest at the Mount Joy Hospice Center on Saturday, May 29, after a courageous two year battle with lung and brain cancer. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of Dorothy Missimer Hartenstein and the late Raymond L. Missimer. Also surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Carol, sons Justin R., fiancé of Dori Powley of Enola, PA, Eric L. of Millersville, and Adam M. of Lancaster. He was fondly known as "Pap" to granddaughters Bryn and Tiffany and grandson Tommy all of Enola. Besides his mother, wife and sons, he is survived by brothers George, Richard, Raymond, Jr., his wife Ann, Charles, Paul, his wife Lisa, and a sister Marlene Missimer Fackler all from Berks Co. Also a sister-in-law Carolyn Missimer from Richland, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Patricia, and a brother John.
Bob was employed by NTN-BCA Corp. for 23 years in the shipping department and then worked in the heating and air conditioning field for approximately 5 years and was last employed as a machine operator for C-B Tool Company prior to his illness. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and also liked doing remodeling projects around his home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the Hospice of Lancaster County or to the American Lung Association.
A Christian Prayer Service will be held Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 441 N. George St., Millersville 17551 at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home before the service from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. carol, i am so sorry for your loss. you and the family are in my thoughts and prayers. Bob was one the nicest people, no matter how he felt he always had a smile,and would ask me how i was!! sometimes he would vent and sometimes he would laugh,he said he put cookies in his cereal,i told him my husband does that too he said he thought he was the only one to do that. Bob touched our hearts he will not be forgotten.
