Robert B. Hofmann, 82
June 11, 2025
Robert B. (Bob) Hofmann, 82, of Lancaster and formerly Leola, passed away at Ephrata Manor on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
He was born in Altoona to the late Richard Karl and Mary Aileen (Wood) Hofmann, and was the oldest of three boys. In his youth, Bob’s baseball team played in the Little League World Series at Williamsport, became an Eagle Scout, played baseball in the local VFW league and played high school football.
Bob graduated from DuBois High School in 1960. He was a talented student and was Student Council President. His gift of writing awarded him a scholarship to attend Susquehanna University where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity and earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature.
Bob met his sweetheart in high school, Deloris M. Tokash, and they married April 30, 1966, and enjoyed 59 years of marriage.
He worked for Case New Holland for 30 years as a writing and advertising supervisor and then freelanced for the company in retirement. Bob was a former member of New Holland Jaycees. He continued his love of writing by becoming an accomplished poet whose words have touched many.
Bob and Deloris enjoyed playing golf and were members of Foxchase Golf Club and the former Hawk Valley Golf Club. He hit two holes in one. Bob and Deloris travelled throughout the US, Canada and Europe. They enjoyed family vacations at Rehoboth Beach, loved watching Pittsburgh sports and attending their grandkids’ baseball, basketball and volleyball games. They attended St John Neumann Catholic Church and were actively involved with Off The Streets.
Bob was a wonderful husband and father, and a loving “Papa Bob” to his grandchildren. He will forever be remembered and loved by his wife, Deloris, daughter, Amy-Jo Walborn, and her daughter Abigail of Mount Joy (Brian Walborn), daughter Jennfier, wife of Scott Rhoades of Wrightsville and their sons, Conner Rhoades and Jenner Rhoades.
Also surviving Bob are his sisters-in-law, Gretchen Hofmann of Charlotte, North Carolina and Sarah Hofmann of Irmo, South Carolina, and in-laws Tom and Patti (Tokash) Hasselman of St Mary’s, PA. Bob was preceded in death by his and Deloris’ infant son John Robert Hofmann in 1967, and his brothers, Terry Hofmann and Larry Hofmann.
Bob’s faith was the core of his life. He spoke and wrote often of his love and trust in the Lord. Knowing he will be with Jesus for eternity provides deep peace for his family.
