Rita A. Mundok, 79
December 29, 2023
Rita A. Mundok, aged 79, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Legend of Lancaster. She was the daughter of the late Mary (Ludwig) and Anthony F. Marino and the beloved wife of Lawrence M. Mundok, Jr.
Rita dedicated 35 years of her life to education, serving as a school teacher at Northern Cambria Elementary School prior to her well-deserved retirement in 2001.
Beyond her professional life, Rita had a spirited love for life and a variety of interests. Rita loved playing Mahjong her entire adult life, forming groups of friends to gather and play the game wherever she lived. She loved music, especially Bruno Mars, and enjoyed attending concerts with her husband, Larry.
Rita found joy in spending time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren, affectionately known as her “chickadees.” She loved playing games with family, taking her grandchildren on mystery trips, and curling up on the couch to watch her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.
Florida was Rita’s paradise. She spent many years living in Marco Island and the last fifteen years snowbirding at her sunshine retreat in Stuart.
Rita is survived by her husband, Lawrence, of Lancaster, PA, her sons, Matthew Mundok, husband of Michele, of Lewes, DE, and Jason Mundok, partner of Anne Kirby, of Lancaster, PA. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ruby, Jake, Jaina, Sydney, Eve, and Kai. Rita is also survived by her brother, Thomas Marino (Tammy) of Northern Cambria, and sisters-in-law: Janet, Mary Jo, Margaret, and Theresa. A special friend, Susanne Butler, and many nieces and nephews also mourn her passing.
A celebration of life will be scheduled in Northern Cambria, PA during the spring of 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or Grane Hospice Care, 1010 Plymouth Rd Suite D, York, PA 17402.
