My condolences to Rick’s family. I met Rick while competing in baseball. He was two years ahead of me so I never had the pleasure to play on his team. He was truly born to play baseball & softball. I also worked with Rick at Hamilton Watch Company in Lancaster. We both had the unique title of ‘Errand boy’ and we lugged gigantic green carts around, dispersing watches to different departments.RIP Rick; great to have known you. Denny Arnold

I was so sorry to hear this about Rick. We did so much together I don’t even know where to start. Rick and I went to McCaskey together and played baseball together. I remember how Rick’s dad would pick us up after practice and take us up to Hershey to watch the bears play. Rick and I and his wife Dawn went to a lot of hockey games together and in the summertime we would go to some baseball games. And there were also a couple of times that I would take Rick and Dawn to the track. Now Rick loved the Chicago Blackhawks and in our senior year Rick and I made the trip over to New York at the old Madison square garden to see the Chicago Blackhawks and the New York rangers play ice hockey. Rick will truly be missed.

I only met rick a few times, but i know he was a loving husband and father, who loved sports and all things associated with it.A great athlete in his younger days, he was known for smashing balls for home runs in his softball matches.A kind, gentle and quiet man, he will be missed,

Oh Rick, I couldnt bear to type in your name and be immediately hit in the face with your obituary, so instead took the cowardly option of scrollling thru the “G”‘s ( which seemed to go on forever and I got stupidly hopeful that this week was simply a horrific dream, from which the entire family is still in shock from and trying to come to terms with ) but then, there was that one of a kind combo of smiling eyes and cheeky grin that we all fell in love with-and my heart stopped for a second. You’ll always be one of ” The Boys Of Summer” to me.The softball Homerun King who not only stole home base but also my big Sister’s heart (and soon after-all of ours) It was that rare ,instant “love at 1st sight (on both yours and her part xx) which some people claim isnt true. In your softball days, I remember the ball flying so hard ,high and as fast as a rocket disappearing out of the park and into the trees, that it just occurred to me- I have never seen you run when at bat! As the sun glimmered off your blonde hair ,you just sauntered -with that cocky smile, around the bases to homeplate. And then always scanned the crowd for Dawn, your biggest fan and the only one who mattered xx. As the years wore on, I came to know the quiet ,Gentle Giant with a swagger still ever present in his walk and gold in his huge heart.Everything about you was unique. A man of few words, but your personality spoke VOLUMES. Your generosity, your deep unwavering loyalty and love for your family, and your sincere humbleness are some of the priceless gifts we are all left with. Memories from 40+ years with Dawn- “your Girl“ to try to help fill part of the void of your temporary separation from us.We love and miss you terribly. Hit one out of the park in Heaven for us Rick xxx

Simply the BEST! We were so blessed to have had Rick in our lives. Another part of each of us has departed. He is so deeply missed. TRYING to remember that if easier for him and harder for us that is what one would truly want for their loved one. So sorry for your loss. The Horns
