Richard E. “Ed” Campion, 77

Richard E. “Ed” Campion, 77 of Masonic Village passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013. Born in Austin, MN he was the son of the late Leo Patrick and Naomi (Revord) Campion.

Ed was a 1954 graduate of the former Harrisburg Catholic High School and the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia, PA. He was ordained a Catholic Priest in 1962.After leaving the priesthood after 11 years, he went on to work in various positions with the College of the Palm Beaches in FL spanning over 25 years. While in FL, Ed continued to be active in the church primarily through his love of the music ministry.

He was a 3rd degree knight with the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 6988 of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and enjoyed traveling, Notre Dame Football, Miami Dolphins football, and spending time with his loving family.

He is survived by a sister, Mary Ann, wife of Frank J. Hinnenkamp, Jr, of Lancaster, a brother, Thomas, husband of Lucille Campion, of Ellicott City, MD as well as eleven nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and the Rev. John Campion.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Masonic Village and Hospice & Community Care of Lancaster for the exceptional love, care and service they provided to Ed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30AM on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 904 Mill Road, Elizabethtown, PA with Rev. David L. Danneker as Celebrant. A viewing will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30-10:30AM. Interment in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Quarryville, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ed’s memory can be made to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
