Richard D. “Rick” Jackson, 66
February 05, 2024
Richard D. “Rick” Jackson, 66, of Manheim, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Hershey Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late N. Richard Jackson and Kay (Anderson) Jackson.
Rick was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. Throughout his life, Rick was known for his dedication and versatility. He worked tirelessly as a heavy equipment operator. Rick was a member of the Oxford Masonic Lodge #353 and was a life member of the National Wild Turkey Federation. For six years, Rick served as a Boy Scout leader for the PA Dutch Council. Rick’s adventurous spirit knew no bounds. He loved spending his time exploring the mountains. Whether cruising on his Harley through winding mountain roads or soaking up the sun at the beach, he found joy in every journey. His dream was to someday move out West and travel cross country. Rick had a special place in his heart for his beloved grandkids and dogs. He treasured every moment spent with family. As a jack of all trades and a handyman, he was always ready to lend a helping hand or share a joke with those around him. One of his favorite snacks was green olives, Swiss cheese and hot sauce. It was just one of the many quirks that made him unforgettable.
In addition to his mother, Kay, Rick is survived by his fiancé, Kathleen G. Cardwell; his children, Angela M. Jackson, Abbie L. (Kyle) Kessler, and Richard “Ricky” (Samantha Leary) Jackson, Jr.; his step-son, Matthew C. Folkman; his brother, Gary (Judy) Jackson and their family; and his grandchildren, Daphne and Seth.
Friends and family will be received from 1PM to 3PM on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. A time of sharing will follow beginning at 3PM so come and share a story or memory with Rick’s family. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Rick was an amazing man. I had the pleasure of meeting him when he worked at the East Petersburg shop. He taught me so much over the years. Rick also had a gift of making someone smile when they were having a bad day, and always put others before himself. Rest In Peace Rick. Nemo will always be by your side. Randall Blatt

Rick was a good friend and coworker. I first met Rick at Stock Building Supply. We had a great relationship. After 2008 we lost touch, but reunited in 2010 as coworkers again at Republic Services. Rick was looking forward to retirement where we both could travel and camp. His life was cut short and he will sadly missed

My condolences to the family of my friend Rick. He and I spent many hours and days on Scouting projects, and we enjoyed many laughs at what Scouts did on camp outs.
