Richard D. “Dean” Clark, 82

Mr. Richard “Dean” D. Clark, 82, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Lancaster, died Tuesday morning, July 5, 2011 at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Delbert A. and Effie M. (Grace) Clark. He married Joyce E. (Parson) July 28, 1949 in Winchester, VA.

Mr. Clark was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church.

He was a 1952 graduate of Penn State University, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. He had worked for the RCA / GE Corporation in Lancaster for 36 years until his retirement in 1988.

Mr. Clark loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, spending time at his hunting camp in Potter County. He was an enthusiastic Penn State University supporter, but his passion in life was a deep love for his family and the friendships he forged over the years.

He was a US Army veteran serving from 1946 to 1948 as a Sgt. in the occupation of Japan.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, he is survived by his 5 children: Richard Jr and wife Donna of Manchester, MI, Linda and her husband Ron Borthwick of Manheim, Pamela  and her husband Wayne Vettleson of Bernville, PA, Kimberly and her husband Tom Zerphy of Lititz, and Kerri and her husband Michael Meyer of Ephrata; his 8 grandchildren Patrick, Ron, Lee, Andrea, Melissa, Steve, Scott, and Stephanie; his 9 great grandchildren Alex, Joseph, Gavin, Jonathan, Macy, Rebecca, Brock, Skylar, and Delilah. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Delbert A. and Harvey H., a sister Dorothy Joyce and twin siblings, Bob and Jean, who died as infants.

Friends will be received from 10-11AM on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 East Roseville Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM, the Revs. Ann Osbourne and Kevin Clark co-officiating.  Interment to follow at Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery.
