My condolences to Ricks family. I’m truly devastated by Ricks passing. I started as a police officer in West Reading in 1998 and I was a 20 year old boy when I started. I quickly became a friend of my supervisor SGT VETTER. He helped me turn from a young boy , nervous and unsure about myself about being a police officer to a confident MAN. As I continue to serve the West Reading Community here in 2016 I always think of Rick. We shared a passion of cars, and Martial arts. I often went To Ricks house for amazing steak dinners and entertaining conversations. I had spent so many nights with Rick talking about life and both of our personal lives. When I left for the United States Marine Corps after September 11th 2001 Rick kidded about it but completely supported me as I entered the fight against terrorism. I am I’m on my 18th year as a police officer and I miss Rick and our conversations. Please let him be in peace and know we love him more that he realized.

I’m so sorry to hear of Rick’s passing. Rick was funny and kind and smart. When I knew him, he loved his dogs and cats, loved buying new cars, enjoyed football, loved to cook and to ride his motorcycle. He was a great officer. Many great memories will remain with me. Peace to Rick’s family and friends.

It is with sincere regret that I offer my deepest sympathy to Rick’s family and friends. I knew him for about 25 years as a co-worker, partner and most of all a friend. As part of the staff in the operation of the police department we both worked for, Rick was a very instrumental part of the success of the department. In good times, his witty sense of humor kept everyone at ease and made each day memorable. In bad times, he always was there to prop me up when I needed it the most. Sgt. Vetter was a testament to his profession, a great servant to the citizens he served and most of all a “very good man.” I will always cherish the many great memories of him and we all will miss him much. Rest in peace my friend. See you in eternity.

I am so sorry to hear about Rick. Although I hadn’t seen him for a long while, as his ex-mother-in-law, I still cared about him and thought of him often. I remember how much he loved being a police officer and I know he was good at his job. My condolences to Richard and to the rest of the family. Pat Boxleitner
