Regis P. Kirchner, 92

Regis P. Kirchner, 92, of St. Anne’s Retirement Community in Columbia, and formerly of Columbia Ave. in Lancaster, died Wednesday morning, February 8, 2006, at Lancaster General Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Joan Wendell Kirchner, who died in 1985.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Bernard L. and Regina B. McCann Kirchner.

Regis had worked as a scheduler for Armstrong World Industries for 31 years, retiring in 1978.

He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, and had been a 20 year participant in the Men of Malvern Retreat in Malvern, PA.

Regis was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, and in 2000, was an inaugural inductee into the Lancaster Catholic High School Hall of Honor.

He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by 2 daughters:  Martha J.  married to Paul R. Barber of Lancaster, Phyllis M.  married to Dr. Charles F. Haldeman of Kentland, IN; 3 sons: Regis “Chip” P., Jr.,  married to Irene Kirchner of Lancaster, Stephen W.  married to Joanna Kirchner of Spring, TX, Christopher M.  married to Rebecca Kirchner of New Providence; 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Herman and Donald Kirchner, both of Lancaster.

Regis was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Houder, and 2 brothers, Cletus and Bernard Kirchner.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 7-9PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, with a Christian Prayer Service at 8:30PM. Friends may call again on Monday from 10:30-11:30AM at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut St. Lancaster, PA with Mass to follow at 11:30AM. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Regis’ memory to Lancaster Catholic High School, 650 Juliette Ave., Lancaster, PA 17601.
