Rebecca S. “Becky” Reidenbach, 61

December 11, 2019

Rebecca “Becky” Reidenbach, 61, of Lancaster, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Hospice & Community Care with her family by her side. Becky was born in Lancaster and proudly raised in Lititz by her parents, the late Dr. Arthur S. and Elizabeth J. (Mumma) Griswold.

Becky graduated from Warwick High School in 1976. She also earned an associate degree in legal secretarial science from Wesley College in 1978. Following her graduation, she was employed as a legal secretary for the former Law Offices of Shirk, Reist & Posey in Lancaster until 1985.

She enjoyed volunteering in the community–which included serving on numerous social and philanthropic committees for causes near and dear to her heart–such as the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women, the American Cancer Society’s Legacy Ball, and the Lancaster Early Education Center’s Night on the Town. Becky was always the life of the party and was known to many as an event planner extraordinaire. She was also renowned for her unique craft making abilities and gourmet cooking skills. In addition to treasuring time with family, friends, and strangers alike, she also took great pleasure in shopping and vacationing in Stone Harbor/Avalon, Palm Springs, and western Europe.

Becky was a parishioner of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and a former member of the Hamilton Club, as well as Bent Creek Country Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth C. Reidenbach, of Lititz; a son, Andrew W. Reidenbach, husband of Jessica E., of Hellam; two sisters: Diane G. Palmer, wife of William, of Lancaster, and Sally A. Young, of Manheim; two brothers: Thomas H. Griswold, of Hendersonville, NC, and Steven Stadlin, husband of Michele, of Penn Valley, PA; a special friend Dave Most, of Lancaster; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Becky’s oncologists, Dr. Samuel Kerr in Lancaster and Dr. Hayley Knollman in Philadelphia, and all of the staff at Hospice & Community Care for their exceptional and compassionate care during her illness.

Becky’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 12:30PM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 601 E. Delp Rd. Lancaster, PA 17601. The family will receive friends from 11AM-12:30PM in the social hall at the church. Interment will be private at Machpelah Cemetery, Lititz, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Penn Medicine for breast cancer research Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Research 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104

Lost connection with Becky for 30 years. Ran into her about 15 years ago and it was like we were still high school chums. We stayed in touch and it stayed that way. A more loving friend you won’t find. You will be missed forever and a day.

When Becky left us, another star appeared in the sky that now burns the brightest. She will be sorely missed on this earth, but her vibrant spirit will live on.    We have so many wonderful memories that span a quarter of a century, holidays, dinners, parties, and travel. Displayed in our homes are many personalized gifts created or ordered by Becky.
Our love goes to Elizabeth and Andy and all the family. You showed great bravery, as reflected by Becky, during this long illness and treatment.        As we are always,  Aunt Carole and Uncle Bruce

Sally and family, I was so shocked to see this obituary. I remember her beautiful smile and her spunk. She almost made me want baby sister.  My deepest sympathies to all of you.
